Workshop: » Introduction to Pattern Design« mit Nàto Bosc-Ducros
This workshop offers participants an introduction to pattern-making, moving from elements of reality to porcelain tiles. Through photography and drawing, participants will create tile designs using traditional techniques. The aim of this workshop is to consider the presence of the patterns in our environment and the capacity of crafts to translate elements of the nature and architecture into decorative patterns. The participants will recuperate their porcelain tiles after the workshop.

My artistic practice draws on techniques borrowed from the applied arts, which I divert and reinterpret. It is developed through ceramics and textiles and unfolds through site-based research. This research-and-creation process focuses on artisanal practices that have disappeared or are in the way of disappearing, as well as on the collective histories they carry, particularly in their relationship to the landscape. The combined use of technology and traditional techniques makes it possible to reclaim a heritage that becomes living and fluid. My project will consist in making an installation containing three sculptural elements: A porcelain garment-sculpture, a machine designed to reproduce the sound of water flowing from the village reservoir through the collision of porcelain elements, a transportable monument module, digitally modelled, printed, and then cast in porcelain.
