Pınar Öğrenci zu Gast in Offenbach und Kassel
Artist and filmmaker Pınar Öğrenci, in her film-related work, traces material cultures of forced displacement, offering decolonial and feminist perspectives at the intersection of social research, everyday practices, and lived human stories. Engaging site and architecture as manifestations of political violence, her practice responds to silenced collective histories while envisioning futures open to justice, equality, and healing. Pınar Öğrenci has been artistically active in Mexico, Germany, Turkey, the US among other places. Her installative work has been shown at the Venice Biennial (2024), Harvard Museum (2024), documenta fifteen (2022), the Gwangju Biennial (2018), the Sharjah Biennial (2017) among others. Solo exhibitions at Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (2025), Frac Bretagne (2024), Berlinische Galerie (2023),) Depo Istanbul (2017) etc. She received the Villa Romana Art Prize (2023) and was nominated for the Böttcherstrasse Kunst Prize (2022). Her first documentary GURBET IS A HOME NOW won the Special Jury Prize at Documentarist (2021).
