Chinese packaging design at Klingsor-Museum
Together with the art department of Hochschule für Gestaltung, Klingspor Museum presents an exhibition of current trends in Chinese packaging design. Chinese books as well as packaging techniques have always been rather more sophisticated and sensual than Western creations in this field.
Works of students of the Shanghai Institute of Visual Art (SIVA) will be shown as well as those by Gu Chuanxi, professor for packaging design and pioneer in contemporary Chinese packaging design.
Shanghai Style has been trend setting as early as in the 1920s, and not only in fashion, but also in graphic and product design. The notion »Shanghai is different« is still valid today. With the foundation of the Shanghai Institute of Visual Art almost exactly 10 years ago, the metropolis keeps developing in this direction. SIVA has been an international partner of HfG Offenbach for many years.
The dean of the art department at HfG, Prof. Klaus Hesse, initiated and organized the show in close cooperation with Klingsor's director Dr. Stefan Soltek.
Project management was led by Xuan Zheng/HfG Offenbach and Yi Jiang/SIVA, Jason Hu/SIVA
