“Es geht” is just the beginning and next year, or so we would like to reveal here, will be called “auch anders”. Those among you who know their Brecht well will know how the sentence will then be continued in the following issues. Nevertheless, don’t tell anyone. “Es geht” is at any rate the first edition – and of course also the proof that an art academy is able to periodically produce a “Report” of a little under 200 pages. Anyone familiar with the resources of German universities will be able to imagine just what dedication and effort was needed on the part of all those involved in order to present in words and images all last year’s graduation topics and important projects, not to mention a series of articles of relevance to the HfG. The first edition is always the toughest, as the essence of the form of documentation chosen has first to establish itself by contrasting with thought, work and life at the academy itself and with what people outside may be interested in. “Es geht” has tried to follow this through.

For the first time, the Offenbach Academy of design is presenting an annual report, and it focuses on the new graduates and their achievements on their final-year projects. Moreover, it also documents the artistic projects, research projects and events that were crucial for the profile of the Academy. The reader also receives an overview of occurrences during the last 12 months. Together, the Annual Report and the homepage provide a comprehensive overview of what the Academy has achieved and where it is going. In this way, the Academy is generating exceptional transparency for the public and thus meeting one of the key requirements of the new university law. We likewise hope that we have indicated areas where future cooperation could arise.
