Since 1994 Hans-Jürgen Drescher has been teaching dramaturgy to students of stage design. The seminars, which are derived from works of spoken or musical theater, impart theoretical knowledge without neglecting the relationship to theater practice. Remaining close to the practical requirements of the theater is effectively reached in the context of the Hessischen Theaterakademie, a unique student cooperation, in which universities with theater departments and the City and State theaters of Hesse are synergistically networked. From this special relationship of theory and practice, the discipline of Applied Dramaturgy was developed. It is now a regular part of the curricular training.
